Fukuoka is Kyushu’s largest city, and the 9th largest in Japan, with a population of about 1,300,000. The climate of Fukuoka is generally mild, with the temperature rarely rising above 33 in the summer, and seldom falling below -3 in the winter. One of Fukuoka’s best-known shrines is Kushida.It is situated in the heart of ancient Hakata with a huge gingko tree, said to be 1,000 years old, shading its forecourt. The shrine honours the grand deity, Ohata Nushina-mikoto, and was built during the Heian Period for the common people. Today it is very much enjoyed by locals and visitors alike during the summer’s major event, the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival.

Travel Tips in Fukuoka
You can go from Fukuoka Airport tot cirty by Subway. Fares into the city are 250yen. Journey times to Hakata station are about 5 minutes, to Tenjin about 11 minutes. Bus is also convinience. There are regular buses into the city that leave from outside the international terminal on the ground floor.
